Justin Verlander Named the AL All-Star Game Starter

Jon Morosi broke the news last night that Justin Verlander will be named the AL All-Star game starting pitcher today.

Verlander is 9-5 this season with a 2.58 ERA, and 0.95 WHIP. He also leads the league in strikeouts, and innings pitched. Verlander may of been named the AL All-Star starter last season, but a rule in the old CBA didn't allow him to pitch because he had pitched on the sunday before the All-Star game.

Chris Sale, Jered Weaver, and David Price were also considered to start for the AL.

It was also reported Matt Cain will start for the NL.
