Nick Castellanos Named MLB Futures Game MVP
The Detroit Tigers had 3 prospects selected to participate in the 2012 MLB Futures Game. Those players were catcher Rob Brantly, relief pitcher Bruce Rondon, and top prospect, 3rd basemen Nick Castellanos.
Brantly and Castellanos were members for Team USA, and Rondon was a member of Team World.
Bruce Rondon pitched and got the last 2 outs of the inning; the first pitch he threw was at 102 MPH according to Keith Law.
Rob Brantly went 1-3 with a RBI double; he also threw out a base runner trying to steal 2nd base.
Nick Castellanos went 3-4 with a walk, 2 singles, and a 3-run home run; he also scored 3 runs.
Castellanos was named the Futures Game MVP.
Not that you can take much from the Futures Game, but one thing is for sure, the Tigers have a bright future with these 3 players.
