Rick Porcello Leads the Tigers to a 3-1 Victory


The Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox today 3-1

The game started out with an Adam Dunn home run in the top of the first inning, but then Austin Jackson led the bottom of the inning off for the Tigers with his 4th home run of the season.

In the 3rd inning, Prince Fielder hit his 4th home run on the season; a 432 foot bomb.

Rick Porcello pitched very well going 6 and 1/3rds innings, giving up 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks. striking out 5 batters and getting his 3rd win of the season. Octavio Dotel got the 2nd out of the 7th inning and Phil Coke got the last out of the inning.

Joaquin benoit pitched a scoreless 8th inning and Andy Dirks hit his 2nd home run of the season in the bottom of the 8th to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.

Jose Valverde came in for the 9th inning and had a chance to close out the game, and he made it interesting, but this time he got the job done.

The Tigers start a 3 game road series with the Seattle Mariners tommorow with Doug Fister making his 2nd start of the season against Blake Beavan
