Justin Verlander Struggles in a Tigers 4-2 Loss

The Detroit Tigers lost to the Tampa Bay Rays tonight 4-2

Tonight was a night that if something had a chance to go wrong, it did. Between a blown call by the umpire (at 1st base), bad base running (Austin Jackson), lazy defense (Quintin Berry), and bad defense (Prince Fielder).

The Tigers were down 3-0 going into the 5th inning, but a Delmon Young solo home run made it a 3-1 game; It's his 6th of the season.

Justin Verlander gave up another run in the 5th inning and was done after going 6 innings tonight. He gave up 4 runs on 6 hits, walking 1 and striking out 8 batters; it was Verlander's 59th straight game going atleast 6 innings.

The Tigers added another run in the 7th inning after a double by Ramon Santiago, a ground out by Miguel Cabrera to advance Santiago to 3rd base, then a ground out to score Santiago and made it a 4-2 game.

Octavio Dotel pitched a scoreless 7th inning and scoreless 8th inning.

The Tigers weren't able to get anything going all night, even after David Price left the game with an injury before the top of the 8th inning.

Rick Porcello (5-5 4.71 ERA) takes the mound for Detroit tommorrow as he takes on Jeremy Hellickson (4-3 3.45 ERA).
