Max Scherzer Roughed Up in Tigers 9-6 Loss



The Detroit Tigers lost to the Cleveland Indians tonight 9-6.

The Tiger started out by giving the Indians 3 runs after an error by Brennan Boesch with 2 outs led to a 3-run home run and Detroit was down 3-0 early.

Don Kelly put the Tigers on the board in the 3rd inning with a solo home run; It's his 1st of the season.

After Max Scherzer gave up a 2-run home run, Miguel Cabrera got the Tigers a run back in the 4th inning with a solo home run; It's his 12th of the season.

Max Scherzer struggled today going 4 and 1/3 innings, giving up 8 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits, walking 3 and striking out 2 batters.

Jhonny Peralta led off the 5th inning with a double, followed by Bryan Holaday hitting a single to get his first hit in his major league career. Quintin Berry followed that up with a RBI double, and Ramon Santiago hit a ground ball to score a run. Miguel Cabrera was up next and hit a RBI double, and scored on a Prince Fielder single to make it a 8-6 game.

The Tigers bullpen went on to give up only 1 run in 4 and 2/3 innings, but the offense couldn't score anymore runs.

The Tigers finish up a 3 game series with the Indians tommorrow as Casey Crosby (0-1 16.20 ERA) takes on Derek Lowe (7-3 3.06 ERA).
