The Detroit Tigers beat the Colorado Rockies today 4-1.
The Tigers started the scoring quick with a solo home run in the 1st inning by Miguel Cabrera; It's his 14th of the season.
Detroit scored again in the 4th inning after a bases loaded walk to Austin Jackson; He ended up walking 4 times today.
Miguel Cabrera scored another run for the Tigers in the 5th inning after hitting an infield single, and advancing to 3rd base on a throwing error, and then scoring after a throwing error towards 3rd base. Yes, an infield single turned into a run after 2 errors.
Prince Fielder went on to add to the Tigers lead with a sacrifice fly late in the game, but the real story was the return of Doug Fister who was coming off the DL. Fister pitched 6 innings throwing only 82 pitches, gave up 3 hits, walked 1 and struck out 6 batters. He finally won his first game of the season.
Phil Coke pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief, and Joaquin Benoit gave up an unearned run in the 9th to get the Tigers the win.
The Tigers finish up a 3 game series with the Rockies tommorrow when Max Scherzer (5-4 5.76 ERA) takes on Jeremy Guthrie (3-5 6.91 ERA).
