Octavio Dotel Placed on the 15 Day DL
According to Brian Britten, Octavio Dotel is headed to the 15 day DL with right elbow inflammation. The move will be retroactive to June 3rd.
Dotel has made 21 appearances this season pitched 18 and 1/3 innings with a 4.42 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. Dotel in his last 2 appearances had given up 3 runs in 2 innings before he was shut down with his sore elbow.
Luke Putkonen has been recalled to take Dotel's place in the bullpen. Putkonen has spent time with the Tigers this season and was not very good in his 6 appearances. He has a 8.59 ERA and 2.59 WHIP in 7 and 1/3 innings pitched. Tigers fans can only hope he doesn't pitch much, or at all.
This is just another blow to a long list of injuries this season. Austin Jackson was recently activated after 3 weeks on the DL, while Doug Fister, Alex Avila, Andy Dirks and Al Alburquerque are currently on the DL.
