Rick Porcello Implodes in a Tigers 5-3 Loss
The Detroit Tigers lost tonight to the Cleveland Indians 5-3.
After trailing 1-0 early, Brennan Boesch hit a double, Jhonny Peralta drew a walk, and Alex Avila hit a 3-run home run to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead; It's his 5th of the season.
Rick Porcello did not pitch well tonight going 5 and 1/3rds innings giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits, walking 3 and striking out 6 batters. Duane Below came in to replace Porcello and went 1 and 1/3rd of scoreless Baseball; Luke Putkonen got the last out of the 7th inning, and pitched a lucky inning of scoreless Baseball.
The Tigers offense had their chances, and put one last run together in the 9th inning.
After a Ramon Santiago walk, Andy Dirks hit a single, and Santiago got to 3rd base, however, nothing came of it.
Doug Fister (0-2 1.59 ERA) takes the mound for Detroit tommorow against Zach McAllister (1-1 4.34 ERA).
