Tigers Offense Struggles, Verlander Not Enough in 3-2 Loss

The Detroit Tigers lost to the Kansas City Royals today 3-2.

Justin Verlander pitched very well going 8 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and had 7 strikeouts; he didn't factor into the decision.

The Tigers offense struggled to do much of anything today, but down 2-0 in the bottom of the 8th, after an Austin Jackson single, Brennan Boesch tied the game with his 4th home run on the season.

However, Kansas City went on to score a run in the 9th off of Joaquin Benoit and it was the game winning run.

The Tigers have an off day tommorow, and on Friday open a 3 game series with the Chicago White Sox. Drew Smyly will make the start against Jake Peavy.
