Miguel Cabrera & Prince Fielder Lead Tigers To a 3-1 Victory

The Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals tonight 3-1.

The scoring started when the Tigers scored a run in the 2nd inning after a Ramon Santiago sacrifice fly. Miguel Cabrera ended a 0-22 slump as well, and jokingly, asked for the ball back.

A scary moment took place in the 3rd inning when Drew Smyly got hit in the back on an infield single by Alcides Escobar, but would stay in the game and pitch well. He pitched 6 innings and gave up one unearned run; Smyly ended up with a no-decision.

Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder drove in 1 run each in the 8th inning to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead and from that point it was over.

Joaquin Benoit went on to pitch the 8th inning and Jose Valverde picked up the save.

Max Scherzer pitches against Jonathan Sanchez in the series finale as the Tigers go for a series sweep.
