Rick Porcello Pitches Excellent in a 5-2 Tigers Victory


The Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox today 5-2.

The White Sox again didn't attempt to cheat today, so atleast they gave their fans one thing to be proud of.

Rick Porcello pitched excellent today winning his first game of the season after going 7 and 2/3rds innings, giving up 1 run, and striking out 4 batters. Joaquin Benoit came in for relief and got the final out of the 8th inning; Jose Valverde pitched the 9th inning and made the game interesting as he always does.

The scoring started today with a Gerald Laird solo home run in the top of the 3rd inning to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead; Laird had 3 hits today. Jhonny Peralta scored on a wild pitch 5th inning and Prince Fielder scored on a wild pitch in the 6th inning. Ramon Santiago and Prince Fielder had RBI single's in the 8th inning.

The Tigers open a 3 game series at Kansas City tommorow when Justin Verlander takes on Danny Duffy.
