Questionable Play & Horrible Defense Has the Tigers Lose 5-2

The Detroit Tigers lost to the Chicago White Sox today 5-2.

Today's game opened up in a very odd way. Austin Jackson and Brennan Boesch struck out to open the game, but when Miguel Cabrera came up to bat, he noticed the batters box was short in length, and complained about it. This led to a delay in the game to make the batters box the correct size. It's not suprising Chicago would do this. What else is new though? It is Chicago afterall.

Max Scherzer was much better in his 2nd start of the year. He had all his pitches working which led to 11 strikeouts. He did hang a changeup in the 5th inning though which Dayan Viciedo made him pay for by hitting a solo home run. Scherzer started to get tired with 2 outs in the 6th inning though. Giving up 2 runs, 1 which was very questionable on a play at the plate where the runner looked to be out, but was called safe.

Moving on, the Tigers got 2 runs in the top of the 7th after a Miguel Cabrera walk and Delmon Young 2 run homer. Alex Avila was up next with 2 outs hit a single, and Jhonny Peralta hit a double. Andy Dirks was up and hit a ball that would've scored 2 runs, but Dayan Viciedo made a great catch to end the inning and kept the score at 3-2.

After another great defensive play by the White Sox in the 8th, Delmon Young made sure the game was out of reach by showing how awful he is in left field. Good decision to play him in left field, Leyland. It's not like the DH is a better fielder or anything. Oh wait....

Daniel Schlereth also continued to pitch poorly and made sure he was one step closer to Toledo!

Adam Wilk makes his first start of the season tommorow replacing Doug Fister who is on the DL tommorow as he takes on Gavin Floyd.
